Program:  Commerce and Information Technology


Course Description:

Multimedia Publication is a one-credit course designed to provide students with hands-on skills involving graphic design, digital photography, and publication. Students use various hardware peripherals and software for completing documents.

Career and technical student organizations are integral, co-curricular components of each career and technical education course. These organizations serve as a means to enhance classroom instruction while helping students develop leadership abilities, expand workplace-readiness skills, and broaden opportunities for personal and professional growth.


Program Goals:

It is the goal of the Commerce Information Technology Department to provide students with knowledge and hands-on experience to prepare them for entry into a business related career or post secondary education.


Course Goals:

At the end of this course students will be knowledgeable of the following:

1. Multimedia Components, including presentation, publication layout, graphic design, digital video production, and Web design

2. Design enhanced multimedia projects that utilize various computer options.

3. Create interactive media projects that utilize various technologies.

Supplies Required:

Folder/Binder, Paper, Pen or pencil


Assessment Procedures:

Nine week grades will be determined by an average of daily grades, tests, and projects. A comprehensive final will be required.


A – 90-100

B – 80-89

C – 70-79

D – 60-69

F – 59 – below

Make-up Policy:

All work must be made up within 3 days upon returning to school. It is the responsibility of the student to get make-up work and schedule time before/after school for make-up tests.


Student Organization: FBLA

Students enrolled in this class are eligible to join Future Business Leaders of America. The club meets on the first Tuesday of the month during activity period in the Commerce and Information Technology classroom. The club dues are $15.

Essential Questions:

What criteria should be considered when determining the correct type of software and equipment to be used for photography and publishing? What are the planning stages when photography is concerned? What are the planning stages when designing a publication?


Classroom Rules:

· Students must comply with ALL rules outlined in the student handbook.

· Be respectful of everyone in the classroom at all times.

· Be in your seat ready to being when the bell rings.

· Ask permission PRIOR to accessing the Internet.

            · No food, drinks, or candy allowed in classroom
