Leo Club

The Hokes Bluff Leo Club is a youth affiliate organization of the Lions Club. The Hokes Bluff chapter of the Lions Club is committed to providing services to our community and especially to those who are less fortunate. For more than 85 years, Lions have been recognized throughout the world for their services to the blind and visually impaired. Lions and Leos participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities.

This year the Leo Club will particpate in many community projects. During the month of October, Leos will be responsible for keeping our campus clean by picking up trash on several afternoons that month. Also during the month of October, the Leos will assist the Lions Club with their community antique car show and breakfast. This will be held in conjunction with the Hokes Bluff City Fest at the Hokes Bluff Community Park. Leo's have been asked to help serve breakfast on that day. The Lions will hold their annual roadblock candy sale during this month and Leos will be needed to help sell candy and collect money.

November will also be a very busy month. Leo Club members will begin working on our annual Angel Tree project. This event involves buying and wrapping gifts for children in our community who are in need of Christmas gifts. The day after Thanksgiving we will begin collecting canned food items for our annual food drive which helps the less fortunate in our community. This is one of our biggest projects. This year Leos collected over 4,000 cans of food.

During the month of April, Hokes Bluff Leos will attend Special Olympics so to assist the athletes with their specific events. These may include baseball throws, track, long-jump,and wheelchair events. This project is usually the favorite event for most Leo Club members.

Leo Club members will assist various organizations throughout Etowah County during the school year including the Family Success Center, Etowah County Humane Society, and United Way.
