Course Description:
Business Technology Applications is designed to assist students in developing technological proficiencies in keyboarding skills, basic computer literacy, and the fundamentals of word processing, database management, spreadsheets, presentations, desktop publishing, Internet, and e-mail. Students are offered opportunities to identify ethical issues pertaining to information systems about careers technology. Communication and critical thinking skills are reinforced through the use of software applications. Simulations and projects promoting teamwork and leadership skills offer further opportunities for application of knowledge and skills.
Program Goals:
It is the goal of the Commerce and Information Technology Department is to provide students with knowledge and hands-on experience to prepare them for entry into the workforce or postsecondary education.

Folder/Binder, Paper, Pen or pencil
Course Fee: $30
This money will be used to purchase paper and printer cartridges, to maintain equipment, and to update software.
Assessment Procedure:
Nine weeks grades will be determined by an average of daily grades, tests, and projects. A comprehensive final will be required.

Make-up Policy:All work must be made up within 3 days upon returning to school. It is the responsibility of the student to get make-up work and schedule time before/after school for make-up tests.
Student Organization: FBLA
Students enrolled in this class are eligible to join Future Business Leaders of America. The club meets the first Tuesday of the month during the activity period in the Commerce and Information Technology classroom. The club dues are $15.

Essential Questions:
What criteria should be considered when determining the correct type of software and equipment to be used in technology situations. What are the advantages of WORD, PowerPoint, Excel,and Access? What are the proper uses of Publisher?
Classroom Rules:
· Students must comply with ALL rules outlined in the student handbook.
· Be respectful of everyone in the classroom at all times.
· Be in your seat ready to being when the bell rings.
· Ask permission PRIOR to accessing the Internet.
· No food, drinks, or candy allowed in classroom
